  • 2 to 3 tbsp Sugar

⏰Prep Time: 10 min

⏱️Cook Time: 15 min

🥣Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

2. Using a sharp knife, cut a thin slice from the top and bottom of each Apple. Working from the stem end using a melon baller, apple corer, or a sharp knife, remove the interior core and seeds to within 1/2 inch of the bottom.

3. Set the Apples in a gratin dish. Add 1 tablespoon of Butter to each Apple and sprinkle with Sugar. Transfer to the oven and bake until tender, 20 to 30 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

💡Tips

  • Apple often burst during baking. To help prevent this, using a knife, score the Apple skin with a spiral working from top to bottom.

  • These baked Apples have so many variations. You can add a teaspoon of red currant jelly or honey to each Apple before adding the Butter. Or dollop the top with finely chopped dried fruit, mixed with chopped Apple and Crème Fraîche or Sour Cream.
