Gratinéed Creamy Roasted Veal with Mushroom

🛒Ingredients (Grocery List)

  • 5 tbsp Butter

  • 3 tbsp all-purpose Flour

  • 1 1/4 cups Milk

  • Salt and Pepper

  • 4 Thick slices cooked Veal Roast

  • 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère Cheese

  • 1/2-pound white Mushrooms, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice

  • Salt

🥣Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Make the Béchamel Sauce: In a small saucepan, melt the Butter over medium heat. Whisk in the Flour until it starts foaming. Whisk in the Milk. Season with Salt and Pepper. Bring to a boil, whisking, then reduce the heat to very low and cook for 5 minutes.

2. Arrange the Veal slices in a gratin dish. Spread the sauce on top. Sprinkle with the cheese and dot with 1 tablespoon of the Butter. Bake on top shelf of the oven until melted and golden, about 10 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over medium heat, cook the Mushrooms with the Lemon juice and remaining 1 tablespoon of Butter and season with Salt. Drain.


💡Tips

  • If you would like to make a complete meal-in-one or stretch it to serve a few more guests, spread cooked pasta or steamed rice in the gratin dish before adding the slices of veal.
